OS/2 Drivers - Trident TGUI9680

What is required?

This driver requires at least OS/2 Warp 3, but I cannot guarantee it'll work on Warp 3.0, since I it had worked on some of them and not on others, and I was not able to determine where was the problem. On Warp 4.0 it should work, but once Trident Microsystems make only microchips and not video boards, maybe these drivers will not work with yours. If this driver works on your system, you'll be glad. They are faster and more stable than Trident ones, but if not, please, just reboot in VGA mode and reinstall your older drivers. Of course, you'll need a video board based on TGUI9680 chip, but the driver may work even with TGUI9682, because the difference is only a few features more on TGUI9682 (the TGUI9682 specific driver doesn't support these features...).

Installing the drivers

The first step is back your system to VGA mode. This assure you that, if the driver can work, it will work. After this, download the driver (v1.5(01), 1.0Mb). These are actually the latest drivers. They have pieces from several other parts from Trident drivers, and removes almost every problem created by Trident 1.4(04) drivers (and they're not a few problems!).

Continue with the installation by unzipping the driver pack which you downloaded to a temporary directory, read ALL the Readme and run the installation with the command install. Follow the directions that are provided by the installation routine. When the program ask you, select the resolution and TURN ON the Virtual Screen. This will FIX the problem when reproducing video streams. Finally, you can reboot. If everything goes Ok, good! You are finally able to use all your Trident resources! If not, I'm sorry, you'll have to boot on VGA mode and reinstall your former drivers. You can also try the GRADD drivers provided by IBM.

I would like to remember you that the drivers are NOT supported by the official enterprises, but feel free to contact me at: djcaetano@yahoo.com.br.
